Zany Nana Banana

Hi. This is Noah and Sawyer. Our Daddy let us write a blog this time. We wanted to say hi to our Nana. Hi, Nana! We love you! We miss you and wish we could come over to your house. I bet you have some gifts for us. You are always giving us gifts. Thanks for loving us and being so much fun. We can't wait to come back to California next summer. Thanks so much for the bags with our names on them. We use them all the time. So...we love you and we'll talk to you soon. Bye!

The Boy Known As "Bubby"

Crazy Daddy and Noah "Bubby" Pipes in San Francisco, CA.

My Little Princess

So here's the thing...she used to be so little and tiny...I could hold her with one arm...she'd cry when she was hungry...she'd cry when she filled her diaper...she'd laugh when I played "peek-a-boo" with her...and she would sleep almost anywhere. But my little princess is growing up. My 5 year old going on 15 is the love of my life. She has an amazing sense of humor, loves to create and draw, and when it comes to dress up...she's a pro. She loves to dance, sing and perform anywhere and for anyone. Who knows...maybe she'll take Daddy's job someday. I love her with all my heart and she's my little princess!

These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things

Leaving California we left behind our favorite Mexican restaurant, Chipotle, and a Starbucks on every corner. So, when we saw this in downtown Walnut Creek.... I had to take a picture. We'll be back!!!

Licensed to Grill

I love to eat. Eating good food is one of my favorite things to do. I love trying new things and will never shy away from foreign food. But once I taste a food I don't like, I have a hard time eating it again. One thing I love about living in NC is the grillin'. We call it BBQ from the West Coast, but over here in God's country "BBQ" has a whole other meaning. If you've never tasted NC BBQ then you don't know what I mean, but it's good and different. I don't know how to do NC BBQ yet, but I sure know how to grill up some ribs or steak or chicken legs. Yes, sir! I love my license to grill.

He's All Grown Up

You know what's weird? My little brother ain't so little anymore. He's all "growed" up!! Curt is the Assistant General Manager at The Elephant Bar in Birlingame, CA. He's been with the company for about 7+ years and doing a great job. He works about 70 hours a week and commutes about 1 hour to work each way. Believe me, I'm not jealous! He's a great chef and loves to treat his family to a good meal every time we visit. He also loves his niece and nephew and always makes it fun to visit the restaurant.

He's still a goof-off, but we love him. Thanks, Curt, for always being there for me and our family. You have a kind spirit and a tender heart. Don't ever lose that. And keep praying for that "special someone" that you can spend the rest of your life with. She's out there! Just be patient.
So, my hats off to my little brother who's not so little anymore!

Best Buds Forever

One of my favorite things to do every year when we visit California is to have lunch with my 2 best buds from growing up, Lance Martin (left) and Brent Randall (right). I've known Lance and Brent since Kindergarten and we went to school together all the way through high school. Lance and I played soccer together in the city leagues and high school and we cheered for Brent as he slam dunked basketballs every winter. You can do that when you're a 6' 8'' white dude. They've always been there for me and I know that I can always go to them in the future. I love these guys.

Lance and Brent work together at an architecture firm in Walnut Creek, CA. Brent is an architect and Lance is an animator. It's really cool...Brent will design a building and Lance will animate it in the computer so the client can take a tour of the facility even before they begin to build it. It's very impressive. It goes way beyond my drawing skills!

Lance is married to Amie and they have a little daughter named Ashley (3 yrs). She is so cute and loves to play with my daughter, Sawyer. Here is a pic of them cooling off in the 100+ degree heat.

Brent is not married, BUT has recently met someone special. Her name is Tara and she lives in Tennesee. He picked a Southern Belle! They've only been corresponding for less than a year, but it seems very serious and I'm praying that God's hand will be on their relationship as they get to know each other better. Go for it, Big B!

So...those are some of my friends. Maybe you'll get to meet them someday!

Home Again

Well...another vacation is over and we're home again. It's always sad to end a vacation and have to leave, but we love our home in NC. We had a wonderful trip to California visiting my mom, brother and extended family. It was weird being back on the West Coast experiencing the crowded freeways, restaurants, shopping centers, sidewalks, etc. I guess we've gotten used to the wide open space and the slower pace of life. Who knew that we would adjust so quickly to the NC lifestyle. Well, the two things that we really do miss are our family and friends. Anyway, we're looking forward to next summer's trip back to the West Coast and if you're in the area, come stop on by.
